A week away from the two year anniversary of Elliott Smith's death and we're lucky enough to get some new material just posted by a kind fan on the Sweetadeline message board. There is a Yousendit link in the thread, but if that no longer works, I'll be hosting the files here for a bit.
Titled "Unreleased - From a Basement on a Hill II", the collection features some material that has appeared on various releases and bootlegs before, such as Angel in the Snow, Elliott's cover of Thirteen, and some Either/Or era demos. There are however quite a few songs that are new to me, or are at the very least reworkings of songs I've only heard previously from live shows. So here it is:

It's hard to explain how wonderful it is to hear new Elliott. His songs are like old friends at this point, etched into my memory so deeply that I can hear them in quiet moments when I'm alone with just my thoughts, every nuance of each song recreated perfectly inside my head. So to have songs that are new to me...especially with him gone...is an indescribable gift. So thanks to the dude who put these out there.
The picture is of the San Francisco Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, which happens to be where I work. I'm pretty sure bums live down in the foliage there. If they don't, they should, it's awesome.
P.S. Oh yeah, so I was figuring I'd start posting again and get this bitch rolling after this extended hiatus, but it appears I've lost my camera. So...that kinda makes it hard to have a photoblog I guess. It may have been stolen. I don't really know. I tend not to lose my shit, especially not something like my camera which is kinda important to me. Hopefully it shows up sooner or later in a pile of unpaired socks or something.

Beautiful picture -- hope you find your camera. :)
